Is it sad to say that people had to buy their way into making a living in American....should the quote have been "life, liberty, and the getting of happiness (in small letters i.e. only if you have money) or does the quote really stand up to what it is in this reading?
Mrs. Barao responding to Chelsea Good question. It would seem that during this time period and it could be argued today, that money is perceived to be the basis of happiness and happiness could be bought.
