Done because Berkeley refused to retaliate for Indian attacks on frontier soil. Bachelors and farmers chased Berkely out of Jamestwon and set the capital on fire. in ended with bacon dieing of disease and Berkeley killing rebels.
African American trip to America
First they were captured by African coastal tribes who traded them to flesh merchants. Then, these people were branded and bound and put on slave ships. when they reached America, they were put up for auction.
*African slaves on plantations had it hard but they also kept their own culture. Population grew through natural reproduction and African culture fused with American to create new languages and jazz, along with the banjo and the bongos.

*Great Planters: owned many slaves and promient land, ruled regions economy, monopolized religious economy, hard working business like people, and dealt with planation problems
*Small planters: largest social group, tilled their plots, may have owned one or two slaves, and lived ragged lives
*Landless Whites: former indentured slaves
*Indentured slaves who were still working on fields

In the South, women could receive property titles, while New England women could not. Women could not vote, men were ounished for abusive behavior, and women assusted in childbearing
